Spinach 'Monza' is a fast-growing, cool-season salad vegetable with dark green, tender leaves and a reliable cropping habit. It is one of the most popular spinach varieties for home growers, and it does well in raised beds, containers, grow bags, window boxes and balcony gardens.

You get 12 young plants, growing one to a cell in 2 plastic 6-cell trays. They are ready to plant straight out into their final position or a container. As a cut-and-come-again crop, spinach keeps producing if you harvest the outer leaves regularly. Sow or plant in spring and autumn for a long picking season, and plant a few at a time for a steady supply of fresh leaves.

The leaves are good fresh in salads, wilted in stir fries, added to soups, blended into smoothies or used as a base for cooked dishes. Spinach is not reliably hardy, so a winter crop needs a cloche or fleece to come through. It also runs to seed quickly in hot, dry weather, so keep the soil consistently moist, give it a little shade in summer and avoid planting in periods of extreme heat.
