The swept-back pink flowers rise above heart-shaped dark green leaves with silver marbling, and they keep coming over many weeks. They suit a sheltered porch, doorstep, patio container or window box, where they make an instant display when planted together.

Cyclamen persicum is not hardy. It will take a light frost in a sheltered pot, but a hard or prolonged frost will kill it, so treat it as one season of autumn and winter colour and keep it out of cold wind. Plant in bright conditions with some shade, and avoid hot, centrally heated rooms if you bring it indoors. Water around the edge of the pot rather than into the crown, keep it on the dry side, and pull off spent flowers with their stalks. The tubers should not be eaten, by people or pets.
