Asiatic lilies give some of the boldest summer colour you can grow, with upward-facing blooms in a rich mix of warm and vivid tones. This collection is 12 plants, each in its own 9cm pot, a mixed selection of Asiatic Lily (Lilium) varieties ready to plant into borders, beds or containers.

Asiatic lilies are among the most reliable and free-flowering lilies, producing a generous flush of flowers in early to midsummer. They are easy to grow, suit beginners and experienced gardeners alike, and the stems cut well for the vase. Supplied as established plants in 9cm pots, they have a head start over bare bulbs and are ideal for an instant display or for filling gaps in existing planting schemes.

Plant in a well-drained spot in full sun or light partial shade, and make sure the soil does not become waterlogged, particularly in winter. They are fully hardy and do well in large pots and patio containers as well as in the ground. Feed with a high-potassium fertiliser during the growing season to encourage flowering, deadhead spent blooms and let the foliage die back naturally. Divide clumps every few years to keep them vigorous.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Every part of the plant, including the pollen and the water in a vase, can cause fatal kidney failure, so do not grow them or bring them indoors as cut flowers in a household with a cat.
