Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen' (Pothos) – Variegated Trailing Houseplant (12cm Pot)
The Marble Queen Pothos (Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen') is one of the most popular trailing houseplants around, grown for its heart-shaped leaves marbled in creamy white and rich green, no two quite the same.
It is a naturally easy-going plant with a trailing, climbing habit, equally happy spilling from a shelf or hanging basket, or trained up a moss pole as it matures. Brighter, indirect light keeps the white variegation at its most pronounced; in a dimmer spot the leaves tend to green over, though the plant itself copes fine in low light.
It arrives as an established young plant in its pot, ready to settle into a living room, office or bathroom shelf. Keep it in bright to medium indirect light, out of strong direct sun which can scorch the leaves, and pot it on into a well-draining, peat-free mix as it grows.
Water once the top inch or so of compost has dried out, and feed with a balanced fertiliser every four to six weeks through spring and summer. It asks for very little beyond that.
Pothos is toxic to cats and dogs. The RHS records it as harmful if eaten and a skin and eye irritant, and because the trailing stems hang at exactly the height a cat will bat at, it is worth positioning out of easy reach.
