Dieffenbachia 'Camilla', commonly known as the dumb cane, is a striking variegated houseplant grown for its large, paddle-shaped leaves in soft cream and green.

Its upright, clump-forming habit and bold variegated foliage make it a natural focal point on a desk, shelf or side table, and it is an easy, low maintenance choice for anyone new to houseplants.

Dieffenbachia needs bright, indirect light and does best out of direct sun and cold draughts. Water when the top of the compost feels dry and avoid leaving it sitting in wet soil, and feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser through spring and summer.

Dieffenbachia is toxic to cats and dogs, and the sap can irritate skin, eyes and the mouth if chewed, so keep it out of reach of pets and children and wear gloves when taking cuttings. Beyond that, it is a low maintenance, air purifying houseplant that does well in warm, humid rooms.
