Radish 'Cherry Belle' (Raphanus sativus) – Fast Salad Radish Plants (12 Plants in 2 x 6-Cell Trays)
Cherry Belle radish is one of the quickest and most reliable salad crops you can grow, with smooth, round, bright red roots, a crisp white centre and a mild, fresh flavour. You get 12 young radish plants, growing one to a cell in 2 plastic 6-cell trays, ready to plant out into a raised bed, vegetable patch, container or window box.
Cherry Belle is a good choice for beginners and for growing with children, and it can be ready to pull in as little as three to four weeks from planting. Plant a few at a time through the season and you can enjoy a steady supply of fresh radishes from spring through to autumn. The variety (Raphanus sativus 'Cherry Belle') holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained, light to sandy soil. It grows happily in a shallow pot or trough on the patio as well as in the ground. Keep the soil evenly moist, as dry spells make radishes hot-flavoured and split, and pull the roots when they are about 2.5cm across for the best flavour and texture. Left too long they turn woody.
Radishes are not hardy, so grow them as a spring to autumn crop.
