Delphinium (Larkspur) – Mixed Colour Tall Hardy Perennial (12 x 9cm Pots)
Delphiniums bring bold cottage-garden height to a sunny border, with towering spires of richly coloured flowers rising above deeply divided green foliage. This collection gives you 12 plants, each in its own 9cm pot, in a mix of complementary colours for a multi-toned display from early summer into early autumn.
Delphinium elatum hybrids are among the most iconic British border perennials. The flower spires are excellent for cutting and are loved by bees and other pollinating insects. They die back in winter and return reliably each spring.
The plants arrive well rooted and ready to plant into a border or a large container. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with moist, fertile, free-draining soil, as tall spires can snap in strong wind. The exact shades vary, because the collection is curated to give a harmonious blend of tones.
Stake young plants early to support the tall flower spikes. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a second flush in late summer, then cut back to ground level in autumn. Mulch the crowns over winter in exposed gardens, and protect young shoots from slugs and snails in spring.
