Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) – Balcony & Basket Cherry Collection (12 x 9cm Pots)
Cherry tomato plants bred for baskets and containers, this Balcony & Basket Collection gives you compact, trailing and cascading tomatoes for hanging baskets, patio pots, window boxes and balcony planters.
You receive 12 plants, each in its own 9cm pot, well rooted and ready to grow on or plant out once the risk of frost has passed. The collection is a mix of tried and trusted varieties such as Cherry Falls, Tumbling Tom Yellow and Red Profusion. Together they give red and yellow fruit from mid-summer into early autumn, so they look as good as they taste.
These are tender plants and a frost will kill them, so plant out in late May or June in a warm, sheltered spot in full sun. Water regularly and evenly, because erratic watering in a pot causes split fruit and blossom end rot, and start feeding with a high-potash tomato feed once the first flowers appear. Being compact and trailing, they do not need the staking or side-shooting that cordon tomatoes do, which makes them easy for gardeners of any experience.
