Strawberry 'Loran' (Fragaria x ananassa) – Hardy Fruiting Plant (12 x 10.5cm Pots)
Bring the taste of summer to your garden with Strawberry 'Loran', a day-neutral variety that gives a long crop of large, firm, intensely flavoured fruit. You receive 12 strawberry plants, each in its own 10.5cm pot, ready to plant out and establish a productive strawberry patch with minimal effort.
Loran is a modern variety bred for fruit quality, reliable cropping and good disease tolerance, so it suits beginners and experienced growers alike. Its compact, vigorous habit works in open beds, raised planters, patio containers and hanging baskets. The fruits are large, glossy, deep red and sweet, and the long cropping season runs from late spring through to autumn. The plants also show good tolerance to powdery mildew.
What you will receive:
12 x Strawberry 'Loran' plants, each in a 10.5cm pot, healthy, well rooted and ready to plant into the garden, a raised bed or a container.
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in fertile, well-drained soil, spacing plants about 30-40cm apart so air can circulate. Water regularly in dry spells and while the fruit is developing, and feed with a high-potash liquid fertiliser once flowering begins. Mulch with straw to keep the fruit clean and hold moisture. Remove runners to put the plant's energy into fruiting, unless you want to propagate new plants, and net the ripening fruit if birds are a problem. The flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects.
