Primrose 'Autumn Glory' (Primula vulgaris) – Hardy Spring Bedding Plants (12 x 10.5cm Pots)
Primrose 'Autumn Glory' (Primula vulgaris) brings rich autumnal colour to the garden, patio and window box, with deep, velvety blooms in burgundy, copper, bronze and gold.
The flowers sit above rosettes of crinkled, dark green leaves and are reliably free flowering, producing wave after wave of blooms from late winter to spring. It is a hardy perennial that copes with British winters outdoors, and it gives early bees and butterflies something to feed on when little else is out. Primulas can cause stomach upset if eaten and skin irritation in some people, so wash your hands after handling.
You get 12 plants, each in its own 10.5cm pot, established and ready to plant into borders, containers, window boxes and patio pots. Plant in partial shade for best results, or in full sun where the soil stays moist. Enrich the soil with well-rotted compost, keep it moist but not waterlogged, and make sure containers drain freely.
Deadhead faded flowers to keep the blooms coming. In the ground the plants return year after year, and after flowering they can be divided and replanted to spread. As these are living plants, slight variation in bloom tone is natural.
