Sweet Pea 'Heaven Scent' is a classic cottage garden climber, with rich rosy-purple, bi-coloured flowers that are ideal for cutting. It is an annual, so it grows quickly, flowers generously through summer and is grown again each year.

Lathyrus odoratus climbs by tendrils and will scramble up a trellis, wigwam of canes, fence or pergola. The more you pick, the more it flowers, and sweet peas are well known for their scent, although this varies from variety to variety.

You receive 12 young plants, growing in 2 plastic 6-cell trays with one plant to a cell. Plant them out in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained, fertile soil, or grow them in large containers with a support. Provide a trellis, canes or netting from an early stage, water regularly in dry spells and feed with a high-potash liquid feed once flowering begins.

Deadhead spent blooms and pick flowers often. If the plants are allowed to set seed, flowering stops. Do not eat the pods or seeds.
