Primrose 'Springtime Salmon Mix' (Primula vulgaris) – Spring Bedding Plants (12 Plants in 2 x 6-Cell Trays)
Primroses are one of the best-loved spring bedding plants in Britain, and this Salmon Primetime Mix brings warm salmon tones to beds, borders, window boxes and patio containers from late winter into spring. You receive 12 primrose plants, growing in 2 plastic 6-cell trays, one plant to a cell.
The mix blends well-known Primula vulgaris types, including Bonelli, Alaska and Husky, for a layered display of colour. These are compact, low-growing, rosette-forming plants with crinkled mid-green leaves. Individual flower colours within the mix may vary slightly, as is usual with mixed packs.
Primroses are fully hardy and will cope with a British winter outdoors. They prefer partial shade and moist, humus-rich soil that drains well, and will take full sun only where the soil stays moist. They grow happily in pots, window boxes and hanging baskets as well as in the ground. Water regularly to keep the roots moist without waterlogging, and feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser while in flower to encourage prolonged blooms. Bees and other pollinating insects visit the flowers.
Although usually bought as one-season spring colour, these are true perennials and will come back year after year if planted out in the garden. Primulas can cause stomach upset and skin irritation, so wash your hands after handling.
