Cyclamen 'Strawberry Dream' brings warm, rich rose-pink colour to pots, window boxes and baskets through autumn and winter, when most of the garden has faded. This is Cyclamen persicum, the florist's cyclamen, with swept-back, butterfly-like flowers and a soft strawberry blush.

Cyclamen are among the most rewarding cool-season plants, producing a steady succession of flowers over a long season. The deep green, heart-shaped leaves are marbled with silver, so the plants look attractive even between flushes of bloom.

Keep the compost on the drier side and water at the edge of the pot rather than into the crown. Pull off spent flowers with their stalks and remove yellowing leaves to encourage more blooms. The tubers are not to be eaten, by people or pets.
