Primroses bring rich, two-toned colour to the garden from late winter, and this Primrose 'Carmine Bicolour' has deep rose-red petals set around a contrasting pale eye. It makes a vivid, eye-catching display in spring and autumn bedding schemes.

Primula vulgaris is a classic British garden favourite, loved for cheerful, long-lasting blooms and for thriving in cool conditions. This carmine bicolour is especially striking in mass plantings, cottage garden borders and mixed containers, where its bold colour holds its own beside other spring performers. Bees and other pollinators visit the flowers.

You receive 12 plants, growing in 2 plastic 6-cell trays with one plant to each cell. They are ready to plant into borders, rockeries, patio pots, window boxes, troughs and hanging baskets. Primroses grow best in partial shade with moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil, and will take full sun only where the soil stays moist. They are fully hardy and frost tolerant. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging.

Upkeep is light: deadhead spent blooms to encourage repeat flowering and feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season. These are true perennials, so they will come back year after year if planted out in the garden. Primulas can cause stomach upset and skin irritation, so wash your hands after handling.
